To date, I haven’t been invited to any Google trial watch parties. I’m assuming there have been some, based on all the hoopla. I know I’ve been asked quite a few times to give a quote on my thoughts. I declined. It’s not that I don’t have opinions – have you met me? I am sure I will follow along as this soap opera plays out, but until anything really happens it feels more like a distraction. Any structural changes coming out of this will take time to implement. As big a deal as this is, I don’t know that there is much to do but to speculate, and speculation won’t help me hit my quarterly numbers. The companies that can afford to not be sucked in by Google’s gravitational pull already operate outside that orbit. Unfortunately, everyone else just has to wait and see, and hope this is a good thing. I’m not so sure that any way this spins, it is a good thing. We shall see. There is so much to talk about that is not this, and yet I can’t imagine an event reception where this isn’t the only topic. Let’s not forget the other stuff. Time is ticking.
Have you been waiting for the agenda to make your decision on Digital Day Camp on October 2nd in Toronto? Pre-event surveys have gone out, Slack channels have been set up, merch is being shipped, and sessions are being fine-tuned daily. All that is missing is you, dear publisher. So would you do me a favor and freakin’ register! You know this is the place to be. Let’s make it happen! Register today.
